Want to bring the scriptures to life? Busy and have little time to read? (Although one can always make time to read at least one chapter a day).
Audio bibles fill a need for many people. Unfortunately, many of them are stale, boring, and use voices from an archaic (in my opinion) time.
Thankfully, there is a version that I find exciting, dramatic (in a good way) and fresh. It’s called The Bible Experience, and uses actors and actresses such as Blair Underwood, Forest Whitaker, Samuel Jackson, Angela Bassett, LL Cool J, Monique, Eartha Kitt, Denzel and Pauletta Washington and many more familiar faces.
It can be a bit melodramatic at times (ex: Mr. Underwood, who does a FABULOUS job as a whole and who is a fave for me, and T.D. Jakes who they could have done without) but it IS thoroughly entertaining and edifying. And it brings the scriptures to life in a most interesting way.
It can be purchased in many places; I got mine on Ebay. Amazon also has it, but until it starts doing right by its workers I try not to support that company.
I got the CD versions, both old and new testament, but I believe it’s also available in MP3 so one can use their phone, I think.
Anyhow, I am doing this endorsement without being asked and without being paid, so this is unbiased and from the heart. I almost guarantee you’ll love it. I get so much enjoyment out of this work, I am eternally grateful for whoever produced it, and the liveliness of the actors and actresses who brought it to reality.
P.S. I’ve been guided by the Lord to do a free audio of The Book of Enoch (and possibly some of the Lost Books of the Bible), and since I’ve got extra time right now, will start on soon.
